Direct Support Professional

 

Employment Type: Full and Part Time & On-call

Job Description:
As a Direct Support Professional you will directly impact the lives of the people we serve by providing direct care and support that promotes independence, social interaction and person centered lifestyle choices. You will receive on the job training while assisting people in their day to day lives. Some tasks include: assisting with personal care including personal hygiene, administer medication, housekeeping duties, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, accompanying persons served on social outings/activities or appointments.

Successful candidates must be able to lift, push and pull 50 lbs consistently throughout the shift; be willing to work at multiple sites located in Clackamas and Multnomah County; effective and professional communication in both verbal and written form; mature judgment relative to providing support of individuals who experience the effects of disabilities and be able to work all available shifts. Criminal history check and pre-employment drug screen required. ALSO is committed to a drug free work place.

ALSO is a nonprofit organization providing supported living, residential and employment services to people with developmental disabilities. We have been providing services to low-to-moderate income adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the Portland Metro area since 1988. ALSO employees are dedicated to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the people we support. Our talented Direct Support Professionals attend on-going rigorous training programs and must undergo an extensive background check before becoming an ALSO employee.
